Happy New Year!
With the holidays over, you may think the gifts have all been given.
And with that thought, you’d be wrong.
The Grand Prize includes one night for a family of four at the Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge, hot springs pool passes and lift tickets to Sunlight.
Think of it as a quick getaway from the city.
And while the Grand Prize covers everything for a family of four, it’s affordable to add on more rooms and lift tickets if need be. Plus, there is plenty to do in beautiful, festive Glenwood Springs.
Travel must be completed before end of the 2015-16 ski season and the following blackout dates apply: Dec. 19 – Jan. 3; Feb. 12 – 14; Mar. 18 – Apr. 3 (closing day).
To enter please leave a comment. Two lift ticket winners (each receiving a set of 2 adult and 2 children’s tickets) and one Grand Prize winner will be chosen randomly from all comments received at braveskimom.com on January 10, 2016.
Increase your odds of winning by entering two more times, at Mile High Mamas and MTN Town Magazine. Both of these fabulous sites are giving away a Grand Prize trip and two sets of lift tickets. All together, we’re offering 9 prizes.
Why Sunlight and Glenwood
Now that we’ve shared the important giveaway details, here are some reasons why you should enter.
Here’s what you’ll find at Sunlight:
- 680 acres of skiable terrain, divided into 20% beginner, 55% intermediate, 20% advanced and 5% expert.
- One of Colorado’s longest trails (Ute at 2.5 miles) and steepest trails (Heathen with a 52º pitch).
- Plenty of glades and tree skiing for everyone from intermediates to experts.
- 250 inches average annual snowfall.
- A friendly, warm base lodge where you’ll find everything you need from rentals, to lunch, to a sunny deck for an après beer.
- Huge views of Mount Sopris and the surrounding mountains.
- Other options for fun, including full-throttle snowmobile tours and Nordic skiing.
Sunlight is a very family friendly resort and a perfect place to turn your kids loose.
With one base, your kids can enjoy parent-free freedom without getting lost. Over half of the trails at Sunlight are intermediate, and these include runs with bumps, glades and plenty of fast corduroy. Ute, a gentle, long roller of a trail has been a kid-favorite for generations.
Not ready to let the little ones roam? Consider the Sunlight Ski and Ride School for group lessons, ages 7 and up. Lessons in the dedicated Children’s Center are available for kids as young as age 3, while the resort also offers enticing adult private and group lessons and high performance, women-specific and backcountry clinics.
While lots of resort lodging offers hot tubs, only the Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge offers direct access to the world’s largest hot springs pool. Here, the warm, warm water comes straight from the earth loaded with 15 rich minerals (and cleaned up with a state-of-the-art ozone purification system) to help your tired muscles recover naturally.
Soak, swim, splash. Gaze at the stars. Or my favorite: look into the night sky as fat flakes of snow fall into the rising steam.
Then, when you’re good and relaxed, it’s a short walk back to your comfortable hotel room where you’ll dream the night away.
Glenwood is a lovely, historic town of about 10,000 people at the confluence of the Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers and Interstate 70.
If you’ve only driven through at high speed, you’re missing a lot. In 2015, Glenwood was honored as one of the best small towns for the arts by Southern Methodist University; as Outside Magazine’s 5th best place to live in the U.S.; and, in 2011, was named “The Most Fun Town In America,” by USA Today.
Honors aside, the downtown area is full of funky shops, art galleries, outdoor specialists and plenty of coffee, bakeries and restaurants. Don’t miss dinner at our favorite, The Pullman.
