Introducing PRISMSPORT Active Wear (Giveaway, Too)

May 11, 2015 by braveskimom

PRISMSPORT track pants in Bandana. All photos courtesy PRISMSPORT.

brave ski mom logoI hate to admit it, but I love yoga pants.

It’s a mommy-dom stereotype, an internet meme. But yoga pants are  really practical. They don’t wrinkle, they’re always comfortable and as long as I’m wearing them, there’s a chance I’ll go running or to the gym.

I believe in yoga pants. And apparently, so do many other women.

yoga pants meme

Which is why I’m excited to share PRISMSPORT with you today.

Choose Your Pattern, Define Your Style

Patterns and color, that’s what you’ll notice when you first visit the PRISMSPORT website. While you can find basic black (check out Essentials), you won’t want to settle for solids.

Instead, scroll through their printed collections. There are 20 patterns to choose from, ranging from sophisticated Batik to abstract Watercolors and subtle Bandana. Each collection has a different range of styles within it, some having more options than others.

There are loose tanks, short sleeve T-shirts, cami style tanks, long sleeve zip tops and more. And PRISMSPORT goes well beyond basic yoga pants with capris, full length leggings, flared pants, track pants, shorts and skirts.

Mix and match these pieces with solid color basics and you’ve got an entire wardrobe – ready to go from gym to street, from yoga to shopping, from carpooling to cooking dinner.

Function and Fashion

PRISMSPORT was founded in 2011 by Lori Floria and Emily Vitale. Described as “fitness devotees and fashion enthusiasts,” Lori and Emily aimed to create a line of high performance fitness clothing suitable for full-on workouts and daily living outside the gym.

prismsport founders emily and lori

Based on what I’ve seen and tried, they’ve totally succeeded.

PRISMSPORT products are made of a combination of polyester and spandex. The fabrics are silky smooth and moisture wicking. Contrasting flatlock seams keep the silhouettes sleek, sporty and comfortable, while all of PRISMSPORT’s pants have flattering seamless fronts and wide waistbands. Even the looser track pants are slim and stylish.

And if, like me, you’ve come to care about where your clothing is made (and how), I’ve got more good news. PRISMSPORT clothing is made in the USA and uses sublimation (heat transfer) printing, bypassing toxic chemicals, and leaving behind only recyclable water and paper.

prismsport batik
Okay, I don’t look this good, but I have these pants in Batik and LOVE THEM!

Six to eight new patterns are introduced each season, with others phased out. Both Lori and Emily have extensive experience in the fashion industry (as well as publishing and marketing) and their goal is to tap current trends without being trendy.

Best of all, while basic black is universally known to be “slimming,” PRISMSPORT’s prints (in combination with their fabulous fabric) are flattering and can help hide “extra” curves. Their website has tips for choosing prints, based upon your height and shape.

What I’ve Tried…

This spring, I’ve been exercising in PRISMSPORT’s flared yoga pants, track pants, perfect skirt, a printed T, and two solid T’s with mesh sleeves.

Here’s what I’ve found.

Smooth, cool, comfortable fabric. PRISMSPORT’s fabric is perfect for warm weather and indoor workouts. It’s not at all insulating. If you’re looking for outdoor gear that spans the seasons, wait for the fleece leggings and training jackets coming this fall.

Wear and wash and wear some more. The fabric dries quickly and the prints stay bright. I’m totally pleased, after many washings.

Unique styles. I’m hardly a hard-core fashionista, but I enjoy the distinctive looks.

  • The track pants are perfect for any activity. They’ve got front pockets for added versatility.
  • The flared yoga pants fit perfectly, snug through the thighs, with just enough flare to look good with tennis shoes or Danskos.
  • prismsport batik skirt
The Perfect Skirt in PRISMSPORT Batik.

My fave is the Perfect Skirt. A skirt, not a skort, pair it with leggings for a run, dress up bike shorts for a ride, sport it on the tennis court, or cover up a swimsuit. Just like the pants, it’s got a flattering, comfortable, wide waistband.

  • T-Shirts. The printed T-shirt is made of PRISMSPORT’s silky fabric and has a tighter fit. The solid mesh sleeve Ts are looser and lighter. The raglan sleeves are made of a semi-opaque fabric, for a sophisticated look – although it won’t hide all straps.

More, more, more. Other pieces with which I’m intrigued (but have not tried) are peplum jackets (with city-worthy lines) and loose tanks (perfect for layering or alone). There are many others – go explore here!

And when you’re ready to buy, please use the ACTLUMMIS code at this link. Why? Because you’ll get a total of 30% off your first order (a special 15% off + the regular 15% first-timer reduction).
