I’ve Moved! And This is My New Home…www.braveskimom.com

October 22, 2010 by braveskimom

A post from the  Brave Ski Mom Blog on a Friday?! It just isn’t done. Something must be up….

Well, yes, something is up!  After two weeks of a very STEEP learning curve, I am ready to announce that my blog has moved to its very own domain: www.braveskimom.com!

You  may have noticed the new super-cool logo designed by my friend Jacquie Finholm. It debuted in all posts this week and it has the new site address: braveskimom.com. I love the logo and it was just the impetus I needed to make the change. Thank you Jacquie!

Starting next week, all new posts will be located at the new site. It pretty much looks exactly the same as this one, only better.

One thing that is not yet better is that I still don’t have it set up for email subscriptions. This doesn’t mean you can’t subscribe — you can and I hope you will.

It is just that at this time, because some of my pending posts were originally written in Word, I can’t get an email feed until those have cycled through. That is only one of the lessons I have learned about the mistakes I have made (sigh…).

So, for all of my highly-appreciated, wonderful email subscribers, here is what you have to do: When you are on the homepage of the new site, click on the orange subscription box with the soundwave pattern. This will subscribe you to the blog via RSS. The most current post will come up in RSS format. On the right side of your screen look for a heading that says “Actions.” Click on “subscribe in mail.” It will take a minute, but you should then be transfered back to the RSS mailbox in your mail program. This is where each new post will be delivered. If you already subscribe via RSS, please subscribe at the new site.

If you are having trouble finding your RSS mailbox and you use Outlook, it will be found in the Outlook mailbox. Look for an orange icon. If you use a Mac, the RSS inbox is at the bottom of the column with the mail inboxes and mail folders. It should say “brave ski mom.” If you click on it you will get the option to move it to your inbox at the top of the page.

Once I do get the email feed established, I will transfer all current email subscribers to this feed. I hope this will be in mid-November. But in the meantime, please subscribe via RSS! You may not want to read everything I post, but I hope you will continue to want to read at least of little of what I post. As a subscriber, you have the opportunity to easily read the posts and you also help me. I need subscribers to increase the visibility and success of my blog. I appreciate your early support and I hope you will continue to support me in this effort.

It has been 12 weeks since the Brave Ski Mom blog debuted. I have published 36 posts, received over 2200 views and have many loyal subscribers (thank you! don’t leave me!). The best part for me is that I have learned a lot and I am enthused and eager to write each day.

Thank you!  And please join me at www.braveskimom.com.

I would be remiss if I did not mention the patient technical assistance I received last week from two fellow Colorado College grads: Jeffrey Strain and Joel Schaefer. Jeffrey has an online empire: you can find him at www.savingadvice.com.  Joel is an avid mountain biker who has the websitewww.gjmountainbiking.com. Thank you both so much for answering my questions.
