Are you wondering how you can help medical professionals on the front lines of COVID 19?
This afternoon, I received a message about a group called Goggles for Docs.
This group — born of a request from a New York City ER physician who runs a large metropolitan emergency department — allows hospitals to add their name to a list if they would like to receive new or used ski and snowboard goggles to protect health care workers’ eyes.
Currently, hospitals in Connecticut, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon and Pennsylvania have opted-in.
The response from skiers and riders has been fast and tremendous. Some hospitals have already received 100% of their request.
But not all have.
If you’re cleaning your ski gear and storing it for summer, this is a good time to get rid of goggles you don’t need.
Because a doctor or nurse does.
As it says on the website, any and all goggles (used, dark lenses, bright lenses, whatever) are “better than a COVID cough to the face.”
For all the fine print, disinfection guidelines and shipping instructions, please go to this website: Goggles for Docs — Gathering Goggles for Doctors Treating COVID 19.
Hospitals can also request goggles and add their name and address to the list at the same website.
New states are being added daily, along with additional hospitals. If you’d like to volunteer to help this effort, there are instructions for that too.
Additionally, you can join Goggles for Docs on Facebook.
Thank you and stay well! Kristen
