We’ve all heard the phrase, “You are what you eat.” First recorded in the 19th-Century by a French physician studying the relationship between gout and diet, it has become a familiar tagline for healthy living.
Summer is the perfect time to take a look at which foods are good for us, especially for our skin. With summer in full-swing everyone is spending more time outdoors, which means that taking care of your skin is even more important.
Here’s what you should be eating for skin health, according to healthy-skincare.com. While there is science behind each of these recommendations, I’m not going there. Suffice it to say that each of these foods tastes good, is readily available and is chock-full of good stuff like antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and fatty acids.
These foods help your skin cells rebuild and they help to maintain and retain essential moisture. Some fight acne and other skin problems, while carrots actually provide natural sun protection, about 2-4 SPF. That doesn’t mean you can skip the sunscreen, but every little bit helps, right?

In addition to eating right, exercising and getting enough sleep help promote healthy skin. Since your skin is the barrier for all of your other organs and the body’s first line of defense, it makes sense that you should feed it the proper nutrients. And with summer in full swing, that shouldn’t be too hard.

If you weren’t raised eating the nutrious foods mentioned in your article, it can be difficult getting your tastebuds used to them so that you enjoy them. I’ve seen these foods on numerous lists and try the ones I don’t like often. Salmon is probably the most difficult for me. The taste is strong but I sneak a bite off my husband’s plate whenever he eats it. Blueberries are another super food that I struggle with so I add a few to the berries that I do enjoy, hoping that one day I’ll enjoy them on their own. Of the 10 foods on your list that I like, I try to eat them on a regular basis and try to include them on the menu when I’m entertaining to get my friends and loved ones to eat them as well.
I recently received a sample of Eucerin Everyday Protection Face SPF30 and must say I was skeptical at first because I’ve always loved the department store lines. I love it! I was worried that my skin may feel greasy or I’d have to wait longer than usual before applying my makeup, waiting for it to absorb sufficiently. The other tip is to check your local store for the best yoghurt on the planet – it is Noosa and my favorite is the Mango flavor. And that is important, especially the days I go and pick blueberries, 7 gallons of them. Freeze them, before washing, and have them all year long. When I was pregnant with my second child in 2001, i broke out with rosacia on my face. Not sure how to treat it and not sure what to use because of chemicals that leak through your skin and could possibly harm your baby, I tried eucerin everyday protection face lotion. Drinking water throughout the day is the best tip I can offer. I can’t stress enough how important this is! Not coffee, not coke, and not sugary drinks..just good ole’ water!

I try to eat these healthy foods as often as I can. And when I take my daily walks always use a moisturizer w/spf 30 and sunscreen w/spf 30 or above and a sun visor or hat! I love Eucerine and recently received a sample of the face protection w/spf! It’s not greasy made my skin feel great!

Everyday lotions; for the face and body and hands. I wear them every day and I have very sensitive skin. I love that they are not too thick and a little goes a long way. I also like the fragrance free element as they do not conflict with my colognes. When eczema flared up on my hand the dermatologist recommended Eucerin and it worked very well. (I just wish I could find the Eucerin “lip therapy”. I have looked everywhere but cannot find it. I’d probably love that too!) What fantastic products; I would recommend them to anyone!

Having fair skin, and living in Valley of the Sun, makes for using sun screen an absolute must! I use an spf 15 on my face but on my arms,legs, chest I use atleast spf 30. Also sunglasses are a must to protect your eyes, you would be surprised at the amount of people who donot wear them and children as well. In my family we all have 2-3 pairs, one for each car, and ones kept by the back door to grab on the way out to the yard.

i burn real easy so if i know i am going to be out in the sun for long periods i take my umbrella with me it is my own personal private shade and it goes every where i do it is much easier than tryin to bring a tree with me. lol . i also grow my own blueberries and raspberries it does not take up much room and you can use planters. raspberries are not like black berries they will not take over. durin the summer i also like to make a tofu stir-fry you take extra firm tofu(or your favorite tofu) cut it into small squares or nice strips then add carrot slices, sliced onions, mushrooms, snap peas, and any other veggies you like also add a splash of sesame seed oil to coat the pan then add 2 caps of soysauce and 2 teaspoons of favorite terriaki sauce. feel free to add other things to it like seasame seeds or other fav seeds or anything else you think might taste good with it.

Someone told me that eating avocados was too fattening, so I only ate half (saved 30 grams of fat calories) and mashed the other half and applied it as a facial for thirty minutes, washed it off with warm water and finished off with tepid splashes of water. Using excellent lotion and cream products like Eucerin is also important for good skin care. Keep up the good work!

A very simple way to start the day and to enhance your skin is to drink a glass of tepid water with 3 Tablespoons of lemon juice. Most of the information about this states that it must be fresh lemons – they are preferable, but I have found reconstituted concentrate to work well.
This is so great that after about a week you’ll notice your skin looking ‘healthier’.
It also helps by keeping the body alkaline.
