Wear Your Hood on the Coldest Ski Days

January 31, 2018 by braveskimom

wear your hood on the coldest ski days
Hood up, Heat in. It’s a favorite braveskimom.com tip.

braveskimom logoA hood is just another layer for your head. When you or your kids are cold, wearing a hood provides a nearly instantaneous heat boost!

It’s one of our best tips for staying warm on cold ski days. You can find more cold weather tips here, where we answer “how cold is too cold for skiing.”

This is very true! A large amount of your warm blood goes to your head, and it ts cooled more on every cycle through your head. Therefore your heart is sending this cooled blood to to arms, hands and feet. Pretty soon, everything is getting colder. We always said, back in the old days, ” if your feet are cold, put on a hat! ” LOL! Thanks for your good advice, mom.

Thank you for explaining the physiology of why a warm head equals a warm body! Cold feet can indeed be helped by wearing a hat!

Hoods are added to jackets for a reason, but sadly, I don’t wear mine enough.

They are there for a reason! Try your hood. I bet you’ll like it!

I just started wearing mine when it was cold this year, and I felt like an idiot for not doing it sooner. Yes, it works! So hood up!

It really does work. And a well-sized hood won’t bother anyone. You’ll forget that it’s on, except that your head is warm.
