Have you met Emma? Emma is Vail Resort’s Epic Mountain Assistant, a texting service that allows users to get immediate mountain information including chairlift wait times, snow reports, grooming, parking 411 and more.
I recently used Emma to check chairlift waiting times in Vail while on the mountain. Why? So that I could avoid the crowds and find the least skied snow. Emma was very helpful!
Sure, I could have used the EpicMix app. But texting is so much faster and easier.
Right now, Emma is available at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Whistler Blackcomb, Heavenly, Kirkwood, and Northstar. In other words, you’ll find Emma in Colorado, Utah, Canada and California.
To access Emma text “Emma” to 77477. You’ll get a message back confirming that you want to use the service. Then you’ll get a message telling you what type of questions Emma can answer. If you need to chat with a person, text PERSON. You can also provide FEEDBACK to help Emma learn more.
As you might guess from the headline, I’m not a huge fan of digital assistants. Siri never understood me and I got a bit paranoid about Alexa listening in.
However, with Emma I figure Vail Resorts already knows where I am whenever I ski onto a lift, and since it’s a texting service, there’s no possibility of miscommunication.
Thanks Emma!
