I’m always interested in staying healthy and keeping my family healthy. I’ve long believed that skiing is good for me and my family (you can read one of my most popular posts about the benefits of skiing, here), so I am happy to share this infographic on the health benefits of skiing.
I don’t agree with everything in this infographic. It’s important to note that when the author talks about fitness and losing weight, there are quotes from people suggesting you “skip the lift” and walk up.
Indeed, skinning up and skiing down all day will burn copious amounts of calories and get you in tremendous shape. But really, how many of us are going to do that?
(Looking to get in shape for skiing? Here’s information from PSIA and workouts from me, the BSM).
In addition, I’d like to see more research on the vitamin D claims — my understanding is you need higher angle sun and exposed skin to absorb vitamin D from sunlight.
Nonetheless, thanks to Jordan, at FlyerDiaries.com for sharing this.
To your health!
