Ski Fashion 2020: FERA for Women and Men

November 10, 2020 by braveskimom

Moving from autumn to winter in just a few days, featuring Women’s and Men’s classic ski clothing from FERA.

For 2020, I am pleased to be partnering with a brand that has become one of my favorites through the years: FERA.

Featuring fashion-forward, yet classic, designs for men and women, FERA clothing is warm and comfortable on- and off-mountain.

Women’s Ski Parkas

My picks for the best ski women’s ski jacket for 2020 are the Julia Parka and the Eva Parka, but these are just two among seventeen ski and lifestyle parkas available on the FERA website. Both the Julia and the Eva also come with faux fur trim on the hood.

Why I Love FERA’s Eva Parka

As I say in the photo below, what’s not to love? After years of trendy prints and colors, the Eva’s subtle striping and ribbed details on the waist and hood feel new. With essential technical features, this isn’t a backcountry coat, but it is one that will stand out at the resort for its classic good looks.

Why I Love FERA’s Julia Parka

The slim fit and puffy down blend cuddle the body, while features including a removable hood, powder skirt, interior goggle pocket and a stretchy, waterproof/breathable fabric mean comfort in most winter conditions.

Women’s Ski Pants

FERA made a name for itself designing flattering, functional ski pants for women. And they are still doing it. This year, inspired by Eurostyle bibs and one-piece suits, FERA introduces the Brooke Stretch Bib, and it’s our choice for this season’s best women’s ski pant.

Featuring the same stretchy fabric as the Eva jacket, the Brooke Bib has a high waste, adjustable straps and your choice of either black or white solids, or more fun, five different combos of solids with coordinating side stripes.

And if bibs aren’t your thing, FERA has plenty of other options, including their signature ski pant — The Lucy — and one of my favorites, The Niseko, a performance, insulated pant.

A little bit retro. A lot of good design. FERA’s Brooke Stretch Bib Ski Pant

Women’s Lifestyle

As much as I’d prefer to ski every day and live in ski clothes, alas! that is not reality. Which means I need clothes for those days when I’m not skiing.

This year, FERA has me covered with what are quickly becoming my favorite, go-to pants: the Jessica Warmweave Legging.

Half legging, half pants, these pants are styled like jeans with belt loops and a front fly zip. The fabric is warm and stretchy and they come in black — which means they go with everything. You’ll reach for them daily.

Good pants and leggings require good tops and FERA has this critical component covered with an array of lightweight, yet insulating sweaters for skiing or daily wear. They’ve also got cute tops for days when we’re stuck indoors, but dreaming of snow.

Choices for Men

Our picks for the best men’s ski jacket and best men’s ski pants this season are the Julian Parka and the matching Davos insulated ski pant.

The Julian channels FERA’s classic vibe this season with perennial colors including black, white, bright blue and navy. Contrasting stripes on the chest and hood add interest, while the technical features include 4-way waterproof, breathable stretch fabric, an adjustable and removable hood, powder skirt and an enviable array of four front pockets (that look like two). Think smart design for a smart look.

And because men deserve nice looking ski sweaters and midlayers, too, FERA mens’ ski sweaters are offered under their Meister label. Here are three of my favorites.

Many thanks to FERA for facilitating this ski fashion post by providing sample product for review and product images. As always, all opinions are my own and are exactly what I would tell my family and friends.

Do any of the hoods fit over a helmet?

The jackets I’ve tried have hoods that fit over helmets! I have one FERA jacket from 2013 that is my go-to on the coldest days, because the hood fits so well over the helmet! That’s just one example, but I’ve been pleased.
