How fashion forward do you feel today?
In the fall, I got an email from Monet, a representative for The Geode Collection at Silver Seed Clothing. She was introducing their new line of leggings. Here’s what she wrote:
Trying to get the word out about a new legging line. I ride in the collection and I am hoping the trend will catch on. I wear one pair on a sunny day, and two pairs on a colder day.
I have been riding for 18 years, I use to teach, and it is my favorite thing to do. But, I am a fashion forward girl and get tired of wearing baggy pants. I am trying to move the tight pants trend forward in the snowboarding world. I want to bring the Snow Bunny name to Snowboarders.
How could I not respond? Who doesn’t want to bring the Snow Bunny name to Snowboarders? Why should skiers have all the Snow Bunny fun?
So I visited their website and fell in love.
Leggings, Leggings, I Love Leggings
I’ve always loved leggings. I love the slim look. I love the extra warmth when layered under a skirt or with boots. But when I saw the leggings offered by the Geode Collection, I really fell in love.
Why? Because they are printed with incredible photos of natural landscapes. What skier doesn’t want a pair of leggings adorned with a photo of moonlit wintery mountains near Park City? I mean, really?
Or if that doesn’t do it for you, how about a green, verdant Park City in summer? Or the red rocks of Moab? There’s a starry night or a sunset over a South Carolina ocean. You can even choose a pattern of up-close and personal crystals.
Skiing and Riding In Geode
Now, to be fair, I haven’t skied in these leggings. But as you can see from the photo of Monet, she looks awesome riding in them. She tells me they’re perfect for spring snowboarding, when the sun is warm and the snow is soft. I have no reason to doubt her.
In fact, I think they are perfect for spring cross-country skiing, with a cute little insulated skirt.
Geode Around Town
Since it’s been brutally cold in my corner of Colorado all winter, I’ve been wearing my leggings as an extra layer. Put on a skirt, pull on the leggings and put on the Sorel boots. Now, I’m ready to stomp through the snow and go out to dinner. I’ve worn them with dresses and mary jane flats. They serve me well at the gym, too. In fact, I’m willing to wear them most anywhere, with a long sweater, a long top or a skirt. And I love the fact that I’m sporting a beautiful winter landscape.
Keri Wilson and Silver Seed Clothing
The Geode Collection is the brainchild of artist Keri Wilson and her designs are included in The Geode Collection. Keri has also brought on a number of other artists to share their designs for leggings. There are geometric designs, abstracts and even a map of the New York subway.
What’s really cool, is that if you have a great idea for a design you can submit it to Keri. First, you have to buy one pair of leggings. Then you’re eligible to submit a design and become a member of their artist collective. The Silver Seed Clothing artists evaluate the designs, and if yours is chosen, you retain all the rights.
And even more cool, if you know someone who would love a pair of leggings, but can’t afford them, email their name to info@silverseedclothing.com. Keri gives away one free pair for every 10 pairs that she sells.
The Nitty Gritty
Geode Designs leggings are made of polyester and spandex and in my opinion are quite durable and thicker than average. They stretch generously, but not so far that they become thin or see-through.
As for sizing, I got the medium leggings and I could probably wear the smalls. However, the mediums still look good (if a tad loose around the knees) and there’s enough room to pull them over one or two baselayers for skiing.
The leggings are handwash only. The Geode Collection retails for $65 a pair. You can find them at Silver Seed Clothing.com.
Enjoy!
