Month-By-Month with The Brave Ski Mom: September

September 1, 2010 by braveskimom

All busy moms (and dads) need checklists.  September is the most beautiful month of the year, in my opinion.  The kids are back in school and the weather is perfect for biking, hiking and running. It is an especially nice time to get together with girlfriends for a strenuous workout on the trail and a lot of chatting.

Here is my September  “to-do” list.  Don’t worry, I won’t share all of it with you, but you can count on some skiing-related posts as I work through my chores. And, maybe it will remind you of a few things that you want to do too.

TO DO:

o   Enjoy Labor Day Weekend at Jazz Aspen/Snowmass.  (I am especially looking forward to Wilco  and the Courtyard Hounds).

o   Start getting in shape for ski season

o   Set some goals for myself for the next nine months

o   Hit the trail with friends

o   Kick off the soccer season and practice being good sports parents

o   Get those season passes purchased before the September deadlines!

o   Reminisce about our adventures over the summer

o   Eat local peaches and apples to excess

o   Enjoy the fall colors at Trout Lake

o   Research where to ski over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays

o   Take some time to relax now that the kids are out of the house (relax? what’s that?)

Great List – check out the following about being a good sports parent and Honoring the Game form the Positive Coaching Alliance: http://www.positivecoach.org/subcontent.aspx?SecID=153
This is a great site for coaches and parents and when practiced really helps the athletes as much as the coaches and parents! All the best!

You guys are going to Wilco too?! Let’s meet up. Want to ride the Rim trail before the show?

We are heading up between 1-2. Probably don’t have time for a ride! Looking forward to seeing you!
