First, a confession. I love Legos. Actually, I adore Legos.
And I’ve been a lucky mom, because when my boys were young, they adored Legos, too.
On long hot summer days (or long dark winter days), we’d dump our bin of Lego bricks on the floor and build fanciful machines, houses, contraptions and sculptures.
There’s nothing really unique about this. Lots of families do this.
And so do a lot of adults, apparently adults who are good at engineering and love ski resort chairlifts.
My evidence?
Check out these videos. They are just two of many, many videos of T-Bars, single chair chairlifts, gondolas and detachable chairlifts made of Legos and found on YouTube.
Apparently in Europe, building home and backyard Lego chairlifts is a thing.
While designs of this scale are way beyond my ability, I am excited to share that Lego released a 585 piece Lego Friends chairlift kit on August 1, 2017.
Lego Friends kits are geared toward girls ages 8-12 and this kit includes two characters, Mia and Olivia.
Want to check it out? Follow this link to Amazon.com, where you can find the operating chairlift kit for $57.00 with Prime shipping.
In addition to the chairlift kit, Lego also released a Lego Friends Snow Resort Chalet ($37.99);
a Lego Friends Snow Resort Ice Rink ($26.07)
and a Lego Friends Snow Resort 4WD SUV ($14.54), perfect for getting your Lego people and all their ski and snowboard gear to the mountain.
While I haven’t had the chance to build any of these, I’m looking forward to checking out the chairlift some afternoon this fall. It will be my guilty pleasure with everyone back in school.
Enjoy!

Not one for boys, too?

As the mother of boys, this is my biggest disappointment. 🙂 But I do think it’s cool Lego has started down this path! Maybe another kit will be in the works!

Hey Sara, Here’s what I’ve found. Not Lego, but Playmobil has an “Alpine Gondola”.” Definitely applicable for boys and girls.
