Good Morning Friends,
Cancer isn’t something any of us ever want to think about, let alone have to address directly in our lives. But, like so many other things in life…it happens. Cancer happens.
In June 2015, I was treated for endometrial cancer at Mayo Clinic. In August, I got the all-clear on three years cancer free from my doctor.
To celebrate, I’ve set a goal of raising $10,000 for women’s cancer research, via the National Race to End Women’s Cancer. It’s just a 5K, but I hope it will be the most significant 5K I run.
Please join me in supporting this national effort to eradicate women’s cancers. No donation is too big, or too small. And if you know women who have had a women’s cancer, please let me know and I will gladly run in their honor.
Thank you in advance for your support! Here is the link to my National Race to End Women’s Cancer fundraising page.
#RunBrave.
Sincerely, Kristen
Women’s Cancer Fast Facts
Every five minutes a woman is diagnosed with a reproductive cancer — cervical, ovarian, endometrial, uterine, vaginal or vulvar.
Nearly 100,000 women will be diagnosed with a reproductive cancer this year.
Because early diagnosis can be elusive, nearly 1/3 of reproductive cancers are fatal. However, advances in research are improving these outcomes and helping with earlier identification.
Risks rise with age, weight and other factors.
Some of these cancers are genetic. If your family has a pattern of cancer in it, please consult a genetic counselor. Ask your doctor for a referral if necessary.
The National Race To End Women’s Cancer
Come run with me! There is a 5k and a 1 mile fun race. The course is in downtown Washington, DC and it’s flat! It is $45 to register and there is no fundraising requirement.
If you’re a survivor, friend, family or a supporter of someone with women’s cancer, sign up for the free Gynecological Cancer Course on Saturday, November 3 in Washington, DC.
Donations benefit the Foundation for Women’s Cancer.
In nine years, the National Race to End Women’s Cancer 20,000 participants have raised over $800,000 for research and awareness.
