Two new books for the students in your lives…from little rippers mastering the alphabet to college freshmen embarking on the adventure of a lifetime!

A-B-Skis!

One of the most visually appealing books I’ve seen in a while, A-B-Skis! is a skiing alphabet book chock full of inspiration and handy tips for parents. Written by Olympic skier and mom Libby Ludlow, the playful rhymes hit a fun, positive note which is reinforced by Nathan Y. Jarvis‘ adorable illustrations.

In addition to being a talented illustrator, Jarvis is also a PSIA children’s specialist ski instructor, so both he and Ludlow truly understand their topic, including the importance of on-snow safety.

A-B-Skis! will release in October 2019, but you can pre-order A-B-Skis! now. The little ones in your life will love it and so will you.

(Come back to Braveskimom.com in November, check out our annual Holiday Gift Guide, and sign up for an opportunity to win a copy of A-B-Skis!)

How to Survive Your Freshman Year

Granted, this is a bit off-topic for the Brave Ski Mom, but eventually even your toddlers will head off to college (skis and boots in tow). How to Survive Your Freshman Year is full of real-world wisdom — not from administrators, professors or parents — but from actual college students.

Last April, I started a very part time job with a non-profit tutoring and mentoring organization in our community. As part of this job, I have the delightful task of working with newly-graduated students who are starting college this fall. Hence, when a publisher reached out with an offer to review How to Survive Your Freshman Year, I leapt at the chance.

And what a great leap it’s been! This book covers it all, and (high praise!) a college sophomore with whom I work tells me he’s learned from it, too.

If someone you care about is headed to college this fall, How to Survive Your Freshman Year is an entertaining, solid resource covering everything from managing money to hazing to choosing classes to making new friends.

And a whole lot more, too.

Because We Love To Read...

In addition to the two featured books, I’m happy to share additional reviews and recommendations for books about skiing. Just follow the links below!
