I mean, really? Is there anything cuter than a bunch of kids all bundled up in bright puffy jackets and slippery pants?
For this ski season’s fashion preview, I turned to U.S.-based WinterKids.com and to SimplyPiste.com, a British online retailer. Many thanks to both of them for sharing their insights, and photos, of the hottest new looks for very cool kids.
Big thanks also to Skboot for sponsoring a helmet cover design contest for kids! If your child, age 3-11, designs the winner cover, he or she will win a helmet cover, and YOU (dear parent) will win a SkBoot rolling ski boot bag and helmet cover! For all details, please see below.
U.S. Styles – Little Boys
Spyder Mini Challenger Jacket in Red/Black/White: This warm jacket offers many features to help keep your little guy warm and dry on the mountain or sledding in the neighborhood. The Small to Tall Grow Feature allows the sleeves of this jacket to extend an extra inch and a half, so that your son can get two seasons out of this jacket. He’ll have the coolest outfit in ski school! Sizes 3-7.
Obermeyer Boys Super G Jacket in Black: This super cozy Obermeyer jacket will make your little guy feel like a ski racing pro! Cool features include an inside goodie pocket (for snacks!) and a working compass on the front of the jacket. The I-Grow Sleeve Cuffs extends the sleeves an extra inch and a half, so this jacket should last, at least, two seasons. Sizes 3-8.
U.S. Styles - Little Girls:
Obermeyer Kismet Jacket in China Pink: Bedazzled with jewels and jelly zippers, this adorable ski jacket is designed especially for little girls. Cute colors and fun prints make this jacket a keeper this winter (Good news is she’ll get to wear it another season with the I-Grow Sleeve Cuffs!). Sizes 2-8.
Spyder Bitsy Lola Jacket in Coast Speedlines: Cozy and warm, cute colors, faux fur hood: this adorable jacket has it all! This stylish jacket for little girls also has the Small to Tall Grow Feature, so that she can wear it for an extra season. You and your daughter will be excited about that! Sizes 3-7.

686 Snaggleface Insulated Jacket in Blue: This awesome style is perfect for the shredder who wants a funky jacket. Cool features include custom Snaggletooth artwork and 686’s Youth Evolution System (Which extends the sleeves an extra inch and a half, so he can shred in style for more than one season. Noticing a trend, here?) Sizes 6-18.
DC Amo Jacket in Dark Shadow/Lime/True Blue: Junior and teen boys can’t go wrong with this sporty and trendy jacket from DC. Look like one of the big dogs on the mountain, and ride like a pro! Sizes 10-16.

The North Face Girls Fallon Triclimate 3-in-1 Jacket in TNF White/Teaberry Pink: Warm, cozy, comfortable and three jackets in one! This cute jacket from The North Face includes a shell and removable fleece jacket, both of which can be worn alone on warmer days or together on those extra cold winter days. The fuzzy fleece jacket is perfect for fall days and hanging out with friends at the mall. Sizes 7/8 – 18.

U.K. Styles – Boys
Didriksons – Jarvis Jacket: The latest boys jacket from Swedish skiwear manufacturer is the Kids Jarvis Jacket. This cute little jacket is suitable for boys aged 3-9 years and is waterproof, windproof and, above all, warm. The hood, and synthetic fur, are detachable. It has a chin guard and adjustable cuffs to keep the warm in.
Columbia – Boys Space Heater 2 Jacket in Fuse Green: Columbia’s Omni-Heat technology promises to keep your child’s body heat at a regular warm temperature on even the coldest days. In addition to Omni-Heat, the Space Heater jacket also has “Omni Shield” for water repellency. The bright color has the added advantage of high visibility whilst out in the snow. This jacket comes in sizes from 6-16 years of age.
U.K. Styles – Girls
Helly Hansen – Girls Velocity Insulated Jacket – Imperial Purple: The Velocity Insulated Jacket for girls is a simple design, with some serious features. The jacket is fully insulated and made of a water-resistant and breathable material. Ideal for ages 4-12.
Columbia Girls Chic To Peak Interchange – Light Grape: The Columbia Girls Chic to Peak Interchange jacket is a fun 3-in-1 ski jacket. The zip-in quilted liner jacket provides extra insulation and is also reversible from white or pink. As with other Columbia Ski jackets, it has“Omni Shield” advanced repellency and an adjustable storm hood as well as cuffs. Suitable for ages 6-16.
And to Top it All Off: Introducing Skbob and Skbella
Caroline Graham, the creator the SkBoot ski boot bag, launches a line of practical, and stylish, kids’ accessories this winter. Her first product? The SkBob and SkBella Neoprene Helmet Gloves for kids. This is a helmet cover for kids made of 3mm, waterproof neoprene. This one-size cover fits over most helmets, adding extra warmth, waterproofing and style. Best of all, the helmet glove has a ticket pocket.
Caroline volunteers at Park City Mountain Resort and time and again has seen kids struggling to get through the RF scanners.
“I realized that children often found it difficult to get through the automatic lift gates, because their passes were located too low in proximity to the scanners. The ‘ticket pocket’ eliminates this issue,” she explains.
Parents, kids and lifties are going to love this product!
Design A SkBob or SkBella Helmet Cover and Win!
Skboot and Brave Ski Mom are sponsoring a helmet cover design competition for kids ages 3-11.
To enter, please download a blank helmet cover template. Color, decorate, embellish and design your ultimate helmet cover!
Once you’re done, ask a parent to scan your design and either email it or upload it to Skboot.
All entries must be received by Wednesday, November 14th. One winner will be chosen by the judges and announced on Friday, November 16th. All rules and information can be found at this Facebook page.
The winner will receive the SkBob or SkBella Neoprene Helmet Glove of their choice. The winner’s mom, or dad, will receive a medium SkBoot rolling ski boot bag (for my review click here) and an adult Neoprene Helmet Glove of their choice. The retail value of the prizes is approximately $175.
The decisions of the judges is final, and the winning design may be made into a helmet cover for next season!
Happy designing and good luck!
